The group cemented its position as the world’s largest hotel chain by opening a further 38 hotels in 2016, bringing its full tally to more than 4000. Marriott has spent the past year expanding its repertoire of services and embracing digital developments by spearheading the use of advancing technologies such as zero-gravity and drones, and also providing a platform for hotel-related start-ups with its Testbed initiative, becoming in the process one of the biggest innovators in the hospitality field.

Microtel set to open today at The Highlands
Chris Chesebrough, vice president of Hospitality Operations at Century Equities, the sister company of the Microtel developer Highlands Hospitality LLC, said the hotel already has hired 18 people and is looking to hire two more to have a complete staff of 20.
